Booth Empire created a branded print photo booth experience for the Niagara-on-the-Lake Public Library’s 225th anniversary celebration on June 7, 2025. The community event marked 225 years of the library serving Niagara-on-the-Lake, and the activation was scoped as a print booth specifically because the format works across the broadest possible age range in a multi-generational venue.
225 Years of Community Service
Most institutional anniversaries measured in single digits or decades. A 225th anniversary sits in a different category entirely. The NOTL Public Library has been operating continuously since before Confederation, through generations of the same local families, and the celebration itself was always going to draw a crowd that spanned every age group the library serves: long-time patrons, current students, young families, library staff, volunteers, and local officials.
That demographic spread shaped every creative and operational decision. The activation had to work for a child getting their photo taken for the first time at a library event and for a patron who had been using the branch for 50 years. The print format was chosen for exactly that reason: it produces a physical artifact any attendee can hold, take home, and keep.
The Custom Print Design
The print design was built specifically around the library’s visual identity. Every photo incorporated the library logo, set in Inter-style typography, with the message “Celebrating 225 Years!” integrated into the layout.
The typography choice matters here. Inter is a clean, contemporary sans-serif designed for screen readability, and using it on a printed anniversary photo bridges the institution’s current digital presence with the print artifact in a guest’s hand. It also reads cleanly at the small sizes a photo strip permits, which is the practical reason it gets used on institutional activations where multiple logos, dates, and messages need to coexist on a single print.
The “Celebrating 225 Years!” messaging serves double duty. For the attendee, it frames the photo as a piece of institutional history. For the library, every photo that leaves the event and ends up on a fridge, a community board, or a family album carries the anniversary message into the community for years after. That is the long-tail value a print booth delivers that a digital-only activation cannot match.
Setup in a Multi-Generational Venue
The activation footprint was a dedicated 8-by-8-foot area inside the library. Setup began at approximately 9:00 a.m. for the 10:00 a.m. event opening, which gave the booth a one-hour prep window before the first attendees arrived. The footprint size was scoped to fit inside an operational library without blocking access to the rest of the space, while still leaving enough room for props, print production, and a small queue.
Props were supplied as part of the activation. Props matter most in mixed-age environments because they give younger attendees a reason to engage and give adults permission to be playful in a way they wouldn’t be in a straight portrait setup. At an anniversary event where the social contract is celebratory, props lower the barrier to participation.
The print format did the heavy lifting across demographics. Kids respond to getting an actual photo in their hand; adult patrons respond to the anniversary branding; older attendees who may not engage with digital galleries or QR codes leave with the same artifact as everyone else. No device required, no follow-up email to wait for, no app to download.

Print Booths for Institutional Milestones
Institutional anniversaries have a specific set of requirements that a generic photo booth doesn’t solve. The audience is broad, the messaging is commemorative, and the artifact needs to do work for the host organization for years after the event itself.
A print booth handles all three. The output is physical, which means it works for every age group present. The creative can be built around the institution’s actual visual identity rather than a generic template. And the print itself becomes a small piece of institutional history, carried into the community by the people who came to celebrate it.
Booth Empire delivers branded print photo booth experiences for institutional anniversaries, community celebrations, and milestone events across Niagara and beyond. Every print is custom-branded to the host organization. Tell us about your anniversary or browse the full case study library.
