During the 2026 FIFA World Cup (June 12 to July 20), Unilever Food Solutions activated at FIFA FanFest in two Canadian markets: Toronto and Vancouver. The activation was a walk-out style slow-motion video experience, produced by The.Team with Booth Empire as the slow-motion video production partner. Across the two-city program, the activation delivered more than 15,500 guest videos over 50 operating days.

This is one of the largest-scale activations in the Booth Empire case study library, and the numbers define it. Toronto produced roughly 6,000 guest videos across 22 operating days. Vancouver produced roughly 9,500 across 28 operating days. Combined: 15,500-plus videos across 50 operating days of run time.

The Brief: A Walk-Out Style Slow-Motion Video for FIFA

Unilever Food Solutions’ brief was specific: create a walk-out style slow-motion video for the FIFA activation at FanFest. The ā€œwalk-outā€ reference is the moment in professional sports when athletes emerge from the tunnel onto the field - tight camera work, slow-motion capture, the energy of an entrance. That is the format Unilever wanted to recreate for fans attending FanFest.

This is structurally a slow-motion video activation, but the format was a custom build rather than a standard Glambot rental. The volume (15,500-plus videos across 50 days), the venue footprint (festival-scale outdoor FanFest), and the consistency requirement across two cities all required a custom engineering response rather than configured rental equipment.

The.Team as Producer

The.Team produced this activation for Unilever. The relationship structure is worth being clear about because it shapes how the program was delivered. Unilever Food Solutions is the brand. The.Team is the production agency that scoped, designed, and managed the program on Unilever’s behalf. Booth Empire served as the slow-motion video production partner responsible for engineering, installing, and operating the activation across both markets.

For multi-city, multi-week activations of this scale, that kind of layered production structure is normal. The producer handles the campaign, the brand, and the cross-market coordination; the production partner handles the technical build, the equipment, the on-site operation, and the daily throughput.

The Two-Market Rollout

FIFA FanFest ran in both Toronto and Vancouver during the 2026 World Cup. Each FanFest is a festival-scale outdoor experience with massive foot traffic, and the activation had to perform consistently in both markets despite different venues, different layouts, and different audience flow patterns.

  • Toronto FanFest: approximately 6,000 guest videos produced across 22 operating days
  • Vancouver FanFest: approximately 9,500 guest videos produced across 28 operating days
  • Combined total: more than 15,500 guest videos across 50 operating days

Vancouver’s higher output reflects both the longer operating window (28 days versus Toronto’s 22) and the audience volume at the Vancouver FanFest site. The activation held up across both markets for the duration of the World Cup run, which is the part of the brief that requires custom engineering rather than rental equipment.

The Equipment Consistency Problem

Running the same activation in two cities across 50 operating days creates a specific problem: equipment consistency. The slow-motion video experience that guests receive in Toronto has to match the experience guests receive in Vancouver. If the capture, the framing, the lighting, and the output format drift between the two markets, the campaign loses its coherence.

That consistency requirement is what defines a multi-market program like this. It is not enough to deliver a great activation in one city. The build has to ship, install, and perform identically in the second city - and in the case of FIFA FanFest, perform identically across nearly two months of daily operation. That means equipment, calibration, lighting, on-site workflow, and content output all have to translate cleanly between the two markets without re-engineering the activation mid-program.

Why a Custom Build, Not a Rental SKU

Off-the-shelf photo and video booths have a fixed footprint and a fixed output format. A standard Glambot rental is scoped for a single-event installation, not for a 50-day, two-market campaign running inside festival-scale outdoor venues. When a brand like Unilever, working with a producer like The.Team, books an activation at that scale, the right answer is a custom build, not a configured booth.

The custom build was scoped against the brief itself: walk-out style slow motion, FIFA FanFest audience volume, two-city rollout, sustained daily operation. The output format, capture setup, and on-site workflow were all engineered to those parameters rather than bent to fit an existing rental configuration.

The Volume Is the Story

15,500-plus guest videos across 50 operating days is a volume that defines the activation. Each one of those videos is a piece of FIFA FanFest content a guest walked away with, branded for the Unilever Food Solutions program, and built for the platforms where a FIFA audience shares during a World Cup.

That volume is also what makes the activation worth producing. A two-city, 50-day program is expensive to run because of the equipment, staff, logistics, and coordination required. The return on that investment lives in the volume: 15,500 guest videos means 15,500 individual pieces of branded content that moved through the activation and out into the audience during the World Cup window.

For Brands and Producers: Multi-Market Activation

If you are a brand or a producer planning a multi-city activation at festival scale, this case study demonstrates what Booth Empire delivers as production partner on programs of that size. Booth Empire engineered the slow-motion video build, coordinated the two-market rollout, and operated the activation across 50 days of FIFA FanFest run time - end-to-end delivery of a custom build, not a vendor drop-off.
