Orville Redenbacher Digital Photo Booth Tour in Ontario and Quebec

For a Star Wars: The Mandalorian & Grogu promotional campaign, Orville Redenbacher toured a Booth Empire digital photo booth through three CF shopping centres in Ontario and Quebec. The drop-off deployments ran 10 to 11 hours per day and generated 915 email-based contest entries and photo deliveries.

A national campaign has to look identical in every city it visits. For Orville Redenbacher’s Star Wars: The Mandalorian & Grogu promotional activation, Booth Empire deployed a shopping mall digital photo booth across three Cadillac Fairview centres in Ontario and Quebec - CF Sherway Gardens on April 11, CF Carrefour Laval on April 18, and CF Toronto Eaton Centre on May 2, 2026 - with the three activations generating 915 email-based contest entries and photo deliveries.

What Was Asked

The campaign required a polished branded photo experience that could operate inside busy retail environments for full mall operating days - 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the two Toronto-area centres and 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. in Laval - and present the same creative in all three locations. It also needed to do more than deliver photos: each participant’s email delivery had to connect them to a contest offering a chance to win a trip to Tenerife, turning every photo session into a measurable brand activation entry.

Designing a Digital Photo Booth That Travels

Booth Empire configured a full digital photo booth experience carrying the campaign at every visible layer: a custom booth wrap on the unit itself, a custom campaign background behind guests, and a custom photo overlay on every output.

Delivery ran through a branded email experience. Guests received their photos by email, and that same email connected them to the contest entry - so the moment of receiving a photo and the moment of entering the campaign were one and the same. For the client, every delivery was simultaneously a brand impression and a captured entry.

Built for Drop-Off Retail Days

The deployment model is what makes this program instructive. Each activation was a drop-off deployment operating across 10- and 11-hour mall days - the booth had to run reliably for the full operating window, in three different shopping centres, across two provinces, without deviation in the guest experience.

That places the entire burden on preparation: the booth wrap, background, overlay, capture flow and email pipeline all had to be configured, tested and locked before doors opened, then repeated identically in Toronto, Laval and Toronto again over a three-week span. Multi-location consistency was not a byproduct; it was the engineering goal.

Tour Results

  • 915 email-based contest entries and photo deliveries across the three activations
  • Three locations: CF Sherway Gardens, CF Carrefour Laval and CF Toronto Eaton Centre
  • 10- to 11-hour operating days at each centre - 32 combined operating hours across the tour
  • Two activations in the Greater Toronto Area and one in Laval, Quebec

Because each email delivery doubled as a contest entry, the 915 figure represents directly measurable campaign participation - not estimated foot traffic, but captured, consented entries tied to the Tenerife contest.

Why the Tour Worked

Photo delivery and contest entry were the same action. Folding the entry into the email removed an entire step where participants typically drop off.

Drop-off deployment fit long retail hours. A booth engineered to run a full mall day made 10- and 11-hour operating windows practical across three sites.

Identical branding travelled intact. The same wrap, background and overlay appeared in every centre, so the campaign read as one national program rather than three local events.

Mall placement met the audience mid-errand. A shopping centre concourse supplies steady, casual traffic all day - the right environment for a consumer promotion with a low barrier to entry.
